Mongolia editing and design workshops
September 1-3, 2010 |
|
Only two decades old, the Mongolian church is "hungry for solid biblical teaching," MAI-Asia chair Ramon Rocha III said. "Publishing has been mostly confined to translations of English titles from the West."
Partnering with key Mongolian church leaders, MAI is committed to a three-year training program to strengthen existing, and possibly start new, publishing initiatives.
"We have very little experience in wriitng and publishing books and articles," said Pastor M, chair of the Mongolian Evangelical Alliance. "From the bottom of my heart, I believe that we need to encourage Mongolian pastors, teachers and leaders to write books and articles that are suitable for our culture and context."
MAI's first training workshops in 2009 drew participants in writing and publishing leadership tracks. Now our training partners have identified editorial and graphic design training as local publishers' biggest needs.
Mongolia's Christian publishers and writers hope to penetrate the general market. For that to happen, they recognize the need to upgrade the editorial and design quality of their publications.
