John Maust, President
John became president of MAI in 1998 after more than 20 years’ experience as an editor and journalist. He worked 10 years as editor of the award-winning Latin America Evangelist magazine, published by Latin America Mission. He also spent four years in Peru as a missionary journalist. And he was assistant news editor of Christianity Today magazine and editor of a small-town Indiana weekly newspaper.
John has authored three books related to the church in Latin America: Cities of Change, research and insights on 10 Latin cities; Peace and Hope in the Corner of the Dead, an on-site account of the evangelical relief effort to help victims of terrorist violence in Peru; and New Song in the Andes, story of the amazing church growth among Ecuador’s Quichua people.

Dawn Herzog Jewell, Publications Manager
Dawn oversees the production of MAI's print and e-publications, in addition to creating content for the website. Prior to MAI, she was managing editor of EMQ and editor of World Pulse at the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College for Evangelism and Missions Information Service. Dawn is also a freelance journalist who covers the global Church. She is the author of Escaping the Devil's Bedroom: Sex trafficking, global prostitution and the Gospel's transforming power (Monarch).

Bonnie McCullough, Administrative Assistant
Bonnie handles MAI's book orders and bookkeeping. She is also the receptionist at the MAI office, giving a gracious welcome to visitors and callers.

MAI regional trainers:
Ian Darke (Costa Rica), Regional Trainer for Latin America
Ian coordinates MAI's training programs in Latin America and is based in San Jose, Costa Rica. He has been coordinator of the Latin publishers network, Letra Viva, since its initial founding consultation in 1996. The network links 40 publishing ministries across Latin America.
Ian was co-founder of the Peruvian publishing house Ediciones PUMA in 1992 and served as managing director until 1994 when he and his family moved to Costa Rica. He is the author of Double Transformation: Christian Publishing in Latin America, published in 2003. His articles appear in magazines such as Interlit, In Touch, Latin America Newsfile and in Spanish-language publications in Latin America.

Lawrence Darmani (Ghana), Regional Trainer for Africa
Lawrence coordinates MAI's training programs in Africa from his base in Accra, Ghana. He is an entrepreneurial publisher, author and managing editor of Step Publishers in Ghana. Lawrence is managing editor of Step and Surprise magazines for young people.
Lawrence has authored more than 10 books, and received the Commonwealth Award Prize (Africa region) for his first novel in 1992. He has been a newspaper columnist for more than a decade and has written many newspaper and magazine articles and stories, as well as plays.
