MAI Announces Writing Competition Winners
MAI is pleased to announce the first-place winners in the LittWorld 2009 Writing Competition. Receiving top prize in the English-language category is Ria Zebua of Indonesia for her story, "Rampage to Reconciliation." Ria is an Indonesian missionary to the Manobo people of the Philippines. Winning the French-language category is Vestine Umubyeyi of Rwanda for her article, "L’amour en epreuve, L’evangile en action" (Love Put to the Test, the Gospel in Action). Vestine is completing her last year of university studies in Rwanda, majoring in linguistics and literature.
Ria and Vestine were awarded a full conference scholarship (not including travel) for the November 1-6 LittWorld international publishing conference in Nairobi, Kenya (or $250 US each, if they are unable to attend LittWorld).
Second place in English and a $100 US prize goes to Sam Okello of U.S./Kenya for "A Paraplegic's Gift." Third place in English is awarded to Benjamin Panulo of Kenya for "Mary."
All of the winning articles are published online by MAI and will also be printed in a complilation of articles to be distributed at LittWorld 2009.
The competition winners wrote true stories of how the power of Christ can bring healing to a hurting world—testifying to God’s power to create understanding and love where bitterness or divisions once dominated.
