Inside MAI Blog: Thoughts on global publishing
This "Arab Spring"
We are in the final two days of the Christian Arab writer training workshop in Beirut, Lebanon. Some 20 participants from Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan are working on book projects with guidance and input from trainers Miriam Adeney, respected journalist Daoud Kuttab, Steve and Alice Lawhead, and me.
Please pray that participants make solid progress in their fiction and nonfiction projects, and that we put into place a sound plan of follow-up for continued mentoring and critique for the various writers.
These Christian writers are living through a period of historic, unsettling change in this "Arab spring." The Egyptian participants arrived the day after voting in the national elections. Our Syrian participant is concerned about the safety of family and friends because of the government crackdown there.
What a privilege to partner with these writers in even a small way through MAI's training.
