Media Associates International

Although the church in Latin America is booming, the lack of locally relevant discipleship materials hinders its maturity. Today many Spanish-language Christian books are aimed at the US Hispanic community, but are irrelevant to Latin Americans.

The ground is ripe for books written and published in Latin America given high literacy rates continent-wide and the church's growing global missions involvement. Many pastors haven't been to Bible college, but are nurtured through the printed word. Books written by Latin Americans speak to the heart concerns of their own people, strengthening the church and reaching the lost for Christ.

Biblical Christian books, written by Latin authors, are essential to the health and continued growth of the church in Latin America today.

MAI has provided training in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Trinidad and Venezuela.

Here's how we've helped...

Inspired the publishing of about 100 short stories as a result of two writers' workshops in Mexico

Trained church leaders in writing in Peru, Ecuador and Colombia

Conducted a three-year editor and author training program in Venezuela

Coordinated publication of La aventura de escribir, a Latin American "author journey" book featuring Christian writers

Hosted internship for editor from Argentinia

Led an editorial seminar for members of Letra Viva publishing network

June 10-12, 2010	Ethiopia marketing and publishing MAI will lead marketing and magazine publishing workshops for the Ethiopian Christian Literature Ministry (ECLMA).
June 15-17, 2010	Uganda writer training This June MAI will lead a writing retreat in partnership with the Ugandan Faith Writers Association. Invited writers will gather for training led by MAI Africa Regional Trainer Lawrence Darmani.

October 16-19, 2008	Asia Christian Writer Conference MAI equipped nearly 50 invited writers from across Asia for mentoring in five tracks: fiction, youth, children, magazine articles, and non-fiction books.

April 19-22, 2010	SouthEast Asia writer workshop An MAI trainer will lead this writing workshop to a group of women who launched a Christian magazine in their "closed" country, following their last MAI workshop on how to start a magazine.
April 26-29, 2010	SouthEast Asia publishing workshop An MAI publishing veteran leads this workshop to equip publishers and others interested in launching publishing work in this "closed" S.E. Asian country.
August 16-20, 2010	Malaysia writer workshop MAI is partnering with a local organization, Wawasan Penabur (Sower's Vision), to facilitate a writing workshop for pastors and laypersons in Malaysia.
September 1-3, 2010	Mongolia editing and design workshops MAI trainers lead workshops in editorial and graphic design, equipping Mongolian Christian publishers and writers who hope to penetrate the general market.
